SCOTTISH taxpayers are paying more than £4 million a year for public sector staff to carry out trade union activities in work time.

It’s the equivalent to the salaries of nearly 150 staff. The news comes after we revealed last week that teachers taking time off for union-related work were costing local authorities £1 million.
