Golf event ticket sales went with a swing
A CHARITY golf event in aid of our appeal is set to raise £13,000 — after every place was snapped up within 48 hours.
Such has been the demand that a second event looks set to take place next year at the same venue.
A few weeks ago we told you that Scotland’s newest luxury golf course — The Carrick on Loch Lomond — was hosting a charity day to raise funds for The Sunday Post Sick Children’s Appeal.
We were looking for 27 teams of four to splash out £500 each for the privilege of playing a round at the stunning course the day before it officially opens. The article appeared on Sunday, April 8. By the Tuesday, every place had been taken — and there’s now a reserve list of 25 teams!
Louise Miles, fund-raiser for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, said, “The response has been great. After the article, the phones never stopped ringing. We had enquiries from all over Scotland and as far away as Ireland.
“We’ve already held talks with course officials about a second event, which will probably take place next year. We’ve kept all the contact numbers so anyone who wasn’t successful this time around may get a chance in the future.
“What we’re looking for now is people to sponsor the event. We have packages available costing from £4000-£10,000. For that, they would get advertising on the day and an advert on the big electronic screen at Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow.
“It’s going to be a fantastic day. The teams will arrive at Cameron House in the morning and be treated to coffee and bacon rolls. They’ll then be taken to the course, and afterwards get a meal in the Marina Restaurant which overlooks Loch Lomond. I’ve been to see the course myself and it’s stunning. It’s built on a beautiful spot.”
The multi-million pound Carrick officially opens on June 1 and is set to become one of the most prestigious in Europe. It will host this year’s Scottish Ladies Open.
