Help us to help them

can really make
a difference

YOUR GENEROSITY helped us raise a tremendous £1810 last week, money that will do great things for Scotland’s sick children.
But if everyone who sent us money last week was a taxpayer and signed up for Gift Aid, the total would have been £2015.
Of course, not everyone does pay tax, but if you do you can see why it pays to use Gift Aid — it raises more money and doesn’t cost you a penny.
So what is Gift Aid? It’s simply tax relief on money donated to UK charities. The folk at HM Revenue & Customs treat donations as if the donor has already had tax deducted at the basic rate of 22 per cent. The charities then reclaim that tax.
That means for every £1 you donate to our appeal we get an extra 28p. If you give £10 using Gift Aid, your donation is worth £12.82. Give £100 and it becomes £128.20.
The one stipulation is you must have paid at least the same amount of tax during the tax year to be able to donate using Gift Aid.
One couple from North Berwick turned their £500 donation into £641 this week, simply by filling in the Gift Aid form on the left of the page. And that’s money we promise to put to good use to give families the care and treatment their children so desperately need.
So please remember to tick the box confirming you want the charity to reclaim the tax on your behalf.
THANKS GO to the children at Clydemuir Primary School in Dalmuir who raised £100 at their Easter Service and Bill and Mary McKenna who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary recently. They asked for donations instead of presents and collected £100.
We appreciate it.
