A CHARITY golf day in aid of our appeal went with a real swing last year — raising a phenomenal
£7000.
So successful was the event that it’s happening all over again this year!
On Thursday, May 15, 25 teams will complete a very special round of golf at one of Scotland’s most luxurious courses.
The Carrick at Cameron House, Loch Lomond — home of this year’s Ladies Scottish Open — will host the charity event.
Profits from the day will go to the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation in association with The Sunday Post Sick Children’s Appeal.
Set amid spectacular scenery and stunning wildlife, the world-class course, which only opened last June, is a golfer’s heaven.
Each team, made up of four players, will undoubtedly have a day to remember.
Stylish
The festivities will begin with coffee and bacon rolls in the stylish Carrick Clubhouse. After a short briefing, it’s straight on to the multi-million pound course for a Shotgun start, meaning everyone will begin at different holes so they all finish at roughly the same time.
A scrumptious buffet meal will be served in the clubhouse afterwards, followed by
prize-giving and a raffle. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, as well as longest drives and nearest the pin.
The cost per team is £500 and places are expected to be snapped up. Last year, within
48 hours of The Sunday Post publishing details of the event, every place had been taken and they ended up with a reserve list of 25 teams!
Organisers expect it to be just as popular this time round.
There are also fantastic sponsorship opportunities still available for the event. The main sponsorship package, costing £5000, will result in your company name and logo appearing on any subsequent correspondence and advertising relating to the day. It will also entitle you to full screen acknowledgement on the Premier Screen in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street.
Benefits
Other benefits include a team place in the competition, an opportunity for your company to set up a stand in the clubhouse and acknowledgement in the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation’s newsletter and website.
There are also team and hole sponsorship packages available for £750. This gives you one team place, your company sign displayed at the appropriate hole and acknowledgement as part of a 20-second advert appearing on the Premier Screen in Buchanan Street.
Colin White, golf manager at the course, said, “We do several charity events throughout the year. Last year’s ‘Round Of Smiles’ event took place before the course officially opened.
“It was a really good day.
The weather was great, a lot of money was raised and it was a big success — hopefully it’ll
be the same again this year.
“It’s a great opportunity for golfers to play on a great course and at the same time raise money for sick kids. To play a round here normally costs a flat fee of £125 per person — and that’s without the extras they’ll be getting for this event.
Unusual
“The course is on the banks of Loch Lomond. The front nine are in the lowlands, while the back nine are in the highlands, so that’s a very unusual feature.
“The views are absolutely breathtaking. Although the course doesn’t appear too hilly, when you walk to the 14th tee you get the most spectacular views right across the loch.
“The first year has gone really well for the course. We have more than 100 members and our aim is to reach 250. We hosted the Ladies Scottish Open last September, which was so successful we’re staging it again this year. It’s a bit earlier this year, in May — just before this event. The course is in fantastic condition.”
Shona Cardle, executive director of Yorkhill Children’s Foundation said, “Last year’s tournament would certainly not have been the success it was without the support of Sunday Post readers. With their support, we hope to make this year’s tournament even better.”

IF YOU have a special reason for contributing to or raising funds
for our appeal then we’d like to hear from you. It could be that you’d like to thank caring staff for the treatment they’ve provided in your hour of need.
Or perhaps a relative spent time in one of Scotland’s children’s hospitals and the experience has left a lasting impression
on your family’s life.
Whatever the reason, please let us know.
We’d be delighted to share your experiences with our readers.
And, who knows, it may inspire others to follow in your
fundraising footsteps.
