Your chance to buy Maw, Paw and The Bairn
 SCOTLAND’S
favourite family, The Broons, have been “cast” in a new role. Fans of The Sunday Post’s long-running comic strip now have the chance to get their hands on a unique figurine of Maw, Paw and The
Bairn.
Specially designed and sculpted by Peter Davidson, the artist who draws The Broons and Oor Wullie, this new collectible follows the Oor Wullie figurine released
in 2006 to mark his 70 years in the paper.
 Peter came up with the design by imagining the three famous characters being stopped to have their picture taken by a 1950s street photographer.
What will surely become a timeless glimpse into the family’s life sees Maw carrying the family shopping while Paw holds on tightly to the latest edition of The Sunday Post.
Lasting memento
The Bairn is the most eager one to have her photo taken and waves as she poses with her favourite teddy bear.
 “I had a great time making this figurine and I hope fans of the strip will like it just as much,” said Peter. “A lot of people will be happy to get their hands on this.”
The Broons themselves were surprised at first when they learned the quick street snap had been turned into a lasting memento but they were delighted with the result.
“Ah cannae believe yon photographer gave that photie tae a sculptor,” said Maw. “It’s a lovely wee statue but if we’d kent that’s whit wis goin’ on we wouldnae hae posed.
“He could hae given us some warnin’ so we could hae got spruced up a bit. Paw’s no’ even got his best suit on an ah’ve got a muckle big bag o’ shoppin’ wi’ me.
“Whit’ll the neebors say?”
The Bairn had no such reservations. “Me cannae understand why Maw’s moanin’,” she said. “It’s funny to see Maw and Paw so wee and Teddy was happy to hae his photie took, tae.
“But Maw really likes yon figurine. Me knows cos she dusts it mair than onythin’ else on oor fireplace.”
THE FIGURINE, featuring Maw, Paw and The Bairn, stands about 24 cm high.
They’re on sale for £45 in the UK, £47 in Europe and £50 for the rest of the world, including postage and package.
